    Description

1903 Five (5) Centavos Coin from the Philippines (US Occupation Period, Insular Government). Copper-Nickel Coin, Extremely Fine/AU Condition.
    The
    first year of its mintage
    , a
    historical coin
marking the early years of the American government in the Philippines.  Coin combines Filipino motifs (Mt. Mayon and a local man) and American iconography (eagle and shield) for a
    compact, visual history lesson
    .
    Beautifully preserved and minimally handled
, this coin lies somewhere between XF and AU condition.
    Obverse
: Man with hammer and anvil seated in front of Mt. Mayon. All delicate details preserved, incl. rim.  A scratch visible underneath the volcano.
    Reverse
: Eagle and shield emblem.  Fine details all preserved, down the feathers of the eagle's wings and super-thin stripes in the shield.
[Due to low picture quality, I have done my best to accurately describe the coin in detail and guarantee this is an accurate representation.]
