Description
Rare vintage (probably late 1940s) quadfold brochure entitled "Interesting Places to Visit in Savannah." This tourism brochure was issued by the original Hotel DeSoto located in Savannah, Georgia. The original Hotel DeSoto was a 300-room resort, designed by William G. Preston and built in 1890. It closed in 1965 and was demolished. On this brochure, J. B. Pound is listed as the hotel's President. In 1923, Jerome Pound, who also owned the Hotel Savannah, purchased the Hotel De Soto. Pound died in 1952. So this brochure must date after Pound's 1923 purchase and before his death in 1952. Folded, this brochure is 3 1/8" by 6 1/4". Unfolded it is approximately 12 1/2" by 6 1/4". In very good condition with some age toning.
