Comments There is a Type 1 and a Type 2 of the 1944 coin. Type 2 shows a plain or a weak showing of the grooves in the mountain on obverse of the coin @3:00. The strong or Type 1 shows strong  grooves along the mountainside (the Mayon volcano). Called verticle striations. Also where the mountain touches the denticles in Type 1 it only covers one denticles, in Type 2 it covers three. There is more space between the mountain and the s in Type 1. Type 2 they almost touch.
