    Description

    1980-9 Middle East, Two Centuries of Conflict – National Geographic Map Poster
    Two centuries of conflict, and growing! This important map forms a basis to understand the conflicts which have existed and continue to exist to this day. The map-side features the countries in the middle east. On the reverse-side, four maps highlight the historical conflicts (as of 1980) of the region: the loss of control by the Ottoman Empire; the conflicts between the British and Russians; the change in control after WWI, and the creation of Israel. It is an introduction to the factions and frictions between the Sunni and the Shia and the oil rich areas and their oil poor neighbors, which have led to some of today's difficulties.
    Middle East maps (for a more complete historic perspective) are our:
    1978-9 Middle East and Early Civilizations;
    1980-9 Mideast in Turmoil, Two Centuries of Conflict;
    1991-2 The Middle East; States in Turmoil and
    2002-10 Middle East – Crossroads of Faith and Conflict.
    Map is approximately 14" x 21".
