From our Meteorite, Tektite, and Fossil Collection, we have selected 10 Trilobite fossil pairs crafted into Earrings and set in Sterling Silver for this listing.  These Elrathia Kingii Trilobites are one of the best known and most easily recognized of all Trilobites species.  They are from the Cambrian Age and lived over 500 million years ago.  While we have been told that these specimens are possibly from New York State, it is more likely that these are from the Wheeler Formation in Utah.  These are genuine whole fossils, not cast reproductions.  Each fossil is individually selected for its quality, then cleaned and extracted from its surrounding rock.  Broken and/or partial/incomplete Trilobites are NOT used.  Note that all have complete Cephalons (heads), not trimmed or cut ones.  Each earring is then custom made by hand, based on the individual specimen, then paired with as close a match as possible to create the set, thus the slight variations visible in each of our samples.  Inside the rim of each earring (on the back) is stamped STARBORN and is also stamped 925 to authenticate that these are Sterling Silver settings.  All earring sets have Sterling Silver french hook ear wires.  Two of these are adorned with a partially surrounding flange-like Sterling Silver accent, the surface of which has a textured/mottled/hammered appearance.
As much as a ruler and a quarter are included in each photo for reference, all measurements below are to the nearest 1/16th of an inch and are rounded down, NOT up.  Measurements do not include any length added as a result of measuring the ear wire or any part of the attaching structure--it is of the outside of the oval shaped setting only.  Each earring within a set shares approximately the same dimensions, so only one set of measurements is given below.  There can be a slight variation within the weights of each earring, usually no more than 1/10 of a gram or so from one to the other, while in many cases, the weights of each are the same.  As a result of this, the weights given are the average weight.  There is not a single set where the difference between the two might be obvious.  There may be slight size and detail variations but nothing that is too obvious or mismatched.  This is the result of their being real live (well, DEAD!) fossils, not stamped out, manufactured reproductions.  All photos were taken with 2 daylight, color-balanced, compact fluorescent bulbs to provide even and consistent lighting results.  As a result, I have NOT had to adjust the brightness or contrast of the posted photos.  They do show the most accurate color and shading nuances.  However, the bright "hot spots" visible towards the bottom on each side of each earring's setting are the results of reflections from these lights.

# 7) 13/16" X 5/8" X 1/8", average weight of each earring including ear wire is approximately 2.6 grams.
# 8) 7/8" X 5/8" X 1/8", average weight of each earring including ear wire is approximately 2.8 grams.
# 9) 5/8" X 11/16" X 1/8", average weight of each earring including the ear wire is approximately 2.5 grams.  This pair features a smaller Trilobite specimen than the above pairs but has the partial flange-like Sterling Silver accent around the bottom half, as mentioned and described above.  The first set of measurements are of the entire piece.  The dimensions of the Trilobite itself are approximately 7/16" X 3/8".
# 10) 11/16" X 3/4" X 1/8", average weight of each earring including ear wire is approximately 2.7 grams.  This pair features a smaller Trilobite specimen than the above pairs but has the partial flange-like Sterling Silver accent around the bottom half, as mentioned and described above.  The first set of dimentsions are of the entire piece.  The dimensions of the Trilobite itself are approximately 1/2" X 3/8".
After deciding which pair of earrings you want, be sure to include a note either through ebay or Paypal, stating which numbered pair you prefer.  The above pictures are of the actual earrings that you will receive.  You may want to include a second choice in case someone else's order comes in first.  This is because I usually leave the photos of a sold set of earrings in the listing for a few days after the customer receives that pair.  This way, the earrings and the photo can be compared to be certain that the customer is satisfied.  All orders will be honored in the order in which payment is received.  If no numbered preference is included, we will pick out what we feel is the nicest pair available at that time.
