This is a fabulous example of a rare trilobite. This is Acastella tiro from the Early Devonian of the Ukraine. This complete specimen is very well preserved with excellent detail intact -
BOTH eyes
display the compound eye facets beautifully!
The distinct bug is very well articulated and is wonderfully outstretched and prone. The black shell "skin" of the exoskeleton contrasts strikingly with the grey-brown matrix. The impressive fossil is beautifully showcased in the center of a semi-squared plate of shale. This is an extremely collectible specimen of Acastella tiro from war-torn Ukraine.
