This is an excellent trilobite double from the Devonian of Morocco.
This beautiful specimen was painstakingly prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in the US.
There are two different types of trilobites on the plate.
Both trilobites are natural to the piece - there has been no compositing done to this specimen!
The larger trilobite on the block is a very inflated and 3-D Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) gibbus. The sharp tailspines have all been prepared free-standing, which is quite striking. There is also a nice, enrolled Phacops on the plate. The bug is beautifully enrolled, and the one eye that is exposed shows the compound eye facets quite well. Both trilobites have excellent detail preserved. The colorful trilobites contrast well with the lighter-colored matrix. The distinct bugs are beautifully showcased on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is a wonderful display specimen of two very different trilobites that has been expertly prepared here in the USA.
