This is simply a killer specimen of a classic trilobite This is a fabulous example of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii from the Ordovician of Russia. This strange trilobite is quite inflated and very well preserved in an outstretched position. The long, stalked eyes have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are wonderfully displayed. The thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton contrasts beautifully with the light-colored limestone. The HUGE bug (well over THREE INCHES LONG!) is strikingly showcased on the large, natural plate of limestone - the rock has been sculpted ONLY around the trilobite, and the rest left natural...pretty cool! This is an extremely impressive display example of one of everybody's favorite trilobites.
