This is a very large, displayable example of a classic US trilobite.
It is an excellent specimen of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This type of trilobite has a huge, semicircular cephalon and a large, rounded pygidium - this specimen displays these features beautifully. This inflated bug is wonderfully preserved in a prone, outstretched position. The dark black fossil contrasts strikingly with the light-colored, almost white matrix. The detailed trilobite is wonderfully showcased on the large, natural block of Wheeler shale that also contains MANY Elrathia parts, partials, and even babies! This is a very collectible and displayable example of a killer Asaphiscus from the House Range.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen. FREE SHIPPING in the USA!
