This is a beautiful double example of a classic US trilobite. It is a fabulous pair of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This striking pair of trilobites is not your usual double - one trilobite is complete and prone, preserved in the dorsal position, and one bug is complete and prone, preserved in the VENTRAL position (upside down.) This unique fossil is FULLY NATURAL AND NOT COMPOSITED! (Reinforced on the back for stability.) It is extremely unusual in the fossil record to have a dorsal and a ventral trilobite preserved so close together they are actually touching! This is an extremely collectible dorsal/ventral double example of this classic trilobite from the Rochester Shale. (Fossil looks better in person than in the photos.)
