    Description

Name:   Acutiramus Eurypterid & Undescribed Plant
    Age:  Upper Silurian
Formation:  Bertie Waterlime, Phelps Member, Fiddlers Green Formation
    Location:  Herkimer County, New York
Size:  Plate is 8 inches across!
This is a one-of-a-kind fossil association from the Upper Silurian of New York. It is a ultra rare plate with a partial Acutiramus macropthalmus eurypterid, a Eurypterus remipes eurypterid head and parts, and a large, Undescribed Silurian plant
preserved. Eurypterus has been designated the ''State Fossil Of New York''! Eurypterids, or ''sea scorpions'', were the terrors of the Silurian seas. This amazing fossil displays TWO DIFFERENT SPECIES of eurypterids on the same plate! Also on the slab is a large, undescribed plant fossil - this plant alone is extremely rare, but being on the same plate as two different types of eurypterids has to be a unique occurrence! The distinct fossils display beautifully on the substantial plate of dense limestone. This is an extremely collectible Silurian fossil association from the classic Bertie/Fiddlers Green formation.
