This is a very collectible fossil. This is a very rare multiple plate of colorful sponges (Vauxia?) from the Lower Cambrian of Nevada. This fossil was found in a single layer and nowhere else in the formation, as far as we know. These distinct animals are well preserved and exhibit fine detail. The tubular shape of the organisms is beautifully displayed, the textured pattern is quite evident, and the small holdfasts at the bottoms are present on most. The striking fossils have great natural color and contrast and are well showcased on the large plate of shale, which also contains THREE Olenellid trilobite heads and other fossils! This is a very rare and collectible multiple plate of delicate sponge fossils, similar to fossils from the Burgess Shale.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen.
