    Description

1855 Kellogg Commemorative Restrike SS Central America PCGS Gem Proof
From one of the greatest shipwrecks of all time, S.S. Central America, this Kellogg Commemorative Restrike was struck at the Presidio in San Francisco  utilizing transfer dies from the original vintage mint dies.  This restrike was struck from the gold recovered from the shipwreck and is made out of the original Kellogg & Company Bars.
The California Historical Society authorized the minting of no more than 5,000 Kellogg "Quintuple Eagle" Commemorative gold coins in memory of the final voyage of the S.S. Central America and to commemorate the beauty and scarcity of these Gold Rush rarities.
This coin is counter-stamped on the reverse with its exact date of striking, corresponding to one of the days of the of the S.S. Central America's last voyage.
This coin comes complete with boxes, case and COA.
