    Description

    This museum quality trilobite,
    Coltraenia oufatenensis
, comes from the Oufaten/ Alnif region of present-day Morocco. The animal
lived during the Lower to Middle Devonian.
    Coltraenia
    is similar to
    Hollardops
but has more pronounced eyes and no genal spines.
The trilobite is 1.75 inches long (if flattened) and 1.33 inches wide. Trilobite and matrix measure 1.99 inches long, 1.89 inches wide and 1.66 inches high. Well-preserved Schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes.
There is a repair running through the right eye and left eye. In the trilobite- collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimen often gets broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
