Trilobite Fossil, Boeckops (Phacops) skelcki, from Morocco #1

Description

This Devonian fossil trilobite,
Boeckops skelcki
, is from Morocco.
The fossil measures 2.1 inches long  and 1.1 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 3.3 inches long, 2.65 inches wide and 1.55 inches high. Well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes.
There is a repair running through the base of the left eye and and base of the cephalon. There is another repair running across the thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimen often gets broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure. The variation of colors in the trilobite were  caused by different minerals in the water at the time of fossilization.
