Description
Morocconites malladoidesis the only designated species within this genus, so far. The defining feature of the trilobite is its long, upturned spine extending off the cephalon. Some call it the unicorn trilobite. The function on the spine is not known. It dates from the Lower to Middle Devonian in Morocco.
The trilobite measures 2.43 inches long, the measurement does not include the cephalic spine, and 1.22 inches wide. The matrix and trilobite together, measure 3.75 nches long, 3.66 inches wide and 2.1 inches high. Schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes.
There is a repair running across the thorax and another across the base of the spine. In the trilobite- collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
All of my fossil are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
