Trilobite Fossil out of Matrix, Phacops, from Morocco #1

Description

This is a Devonian fossil trilobite,
Phacops
, (possibly
Morocops sp
)from Morocco.
The fossil measures 1.1 inches long (it is mostlyenrolled) and 0.99 inches wide. The matrix has been removed from most of the trilobite. The schizochroal lenses in both eyes are exceptionally well-preserved.
There is a repair running through the cephalon and down the thorax . In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
